Fatal traffic accident in North Point

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a man was killed in North Point today (October 12).

About 6 pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) being driven by a 39-year-old man hit a man who was pushing a trolley on Victoria Park Road outside Victoria Park heading for North Point.

The man sustained injuries was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital where he was certified dead at 6.38 pm.

Police did not find any identity document on him. Aged about 60 to 70, he is about 1.6 metres tall, of medium build and short grey hair. He was wearing a grey shirt and dark grey trousers when the incident occurred.

The LGV driver was subsequently arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He was released on Police bail pending further enquiries.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island are underway.
