Licences / Permits

Chung Ying Street Check Point
Chung Ying Street ‘e-Corridor’

Introduction

  • Starting from 23rd December 2024, valid closed area permit holders can register for the use of ‘e-Corridor’ installed at Chung Ying Street Check Point, which utilises facial recognition technology to match the information stored in the database, replacing manual verification. ‘E-Corridor’ can enhance the processing efficiency of the Check Point, and provide a more convenient and quality experience for users, ultimately complementing the need for tourism development in the future.

  • Apart from ‘e-Corridor’, the Check Point is also configured with ‘Manual Corridor’ and ‘Cargo Corridor’ for the use of persons who have not registered on ‘e-Corridor’.

  • Please be reminded that persons registered on ‘e-Corridor’ still have to bring along the electronic or paper-form permit, and provide it to the Check Point staff for verification when required.

Registration/Cancellation of the Use of ‘e-Corridor’

  • New application for Closed Area Permit: Applicants who do not hold a valid closed area permit can submit an application for a permit through the ‘Hong Kong Police Force Online Applications Platform’ – ‘Closed Area Permit (CAP)’. Applicants can register for the use of ‘e-Corridor’ during the application.

  • Current holder of a valid Closed Area Permit: Permit holders can submit the ‘Consent Form’ by post or in person to the Closed Area Permit Office (No.8 Sha Tau Kok Road, Fanling, New Territories), or to Chung Ying Street Check Point.

  • Registered persons can cancel the use of ‘e-Corridor’ by the following means:

    • Attend the Closed Area Permit Office or Chung Ying Street Check Point in person during office hours and submit the request to the staff;
    • Sending a letter to the Closed Area Permit Office
      Post: No.8 Sha Tau Kok Road, Fanling, New Territories

      Fax: 2675 9925

Privacy Protection and Information Security

  • The Hong Kong Police Force has commissioned an independent consultancy to conduct ‘Privacy Impact Assessment’ for the use of facial recognition technology in ‘e-Corridor’. Legal advice has also been sought from the Department of Justice and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data to ensure that the privacy of the public is fully protected. Moreover, notices are displayed in the proximity of the CCTV surveillance area at Chung Ying Street Check Point, explicitly informing the public that CCTVs are in operation at the area.

  • An independent consultancy has conducted Security Risk Assessments and Audits for the system to ensure the security and reliability of the infrastructure, hardware and software components and data transmission solutions.
