Do you know what a Mother's Day failure is? Let me share my worst ever experience with you and hope that no one would repeat my mistake.
Last year, I went to school on the second Sunday of May for a special school function. During breakfast time, my mother curiously asked me whether I had forgotten anything. I found it a bit odd but I double-checked my school bag to make sure I didn’t forget to bring anything.
When I reached school, my classmates were discussing something with excitement. I heard that Peter wanted to buy a cake for his mother while Mary prepared to buy a carnation after school for hers. “Why is everyone buying something for their mothers?” I interrupted.
After a long pause and silence in the room, Peter said, “It's MOTHER'S DAY!”
I was so shocked at that moment, and I immediately felt regretful. How could I forget this important festival to show my thanks to my mother, especially after she had done so much for me?
I wanted to make it up by buying a cake and writing a card for my mother, but it kept raining after school and I had left my umbrella at home. I was very upset. Then I saw a familiar figure. It was my mother holding an umbrella rushing towards me in such a heavy rain, like an angel that I need most when I am in trouble.
I apologised to my mother for not having prepared anything on Mother’s Day. My mother hugged me and said that nothing is more important than me. I felt so warm and I promised to prepare well in the next Mother's Day.
As a son or daughter, we should always cherish our parents and take good care of them. It is a good time to show our love to them on special days like Mother's or Father's Day, but it is also important to treat them well every day.
