JPC CORNER

Standing in front of the big hall, I felt nervous, a bit scared, but at the same time, very curious on what I was about to experience in the next 75 minutes in the dark.

After I went inside, it was pitch black and I could not see anything. I was scared especially when a thought came up, “What if I get lost, fall down but my group mates and guide do not know?” But after I got used to walking in the dark, it was not so bad.

Our guide, who was blind, led us through one place to another. He asked us many questions which were quite hard to answer. My favourite scene was the “market”. I found it hard but at the same time fun trying to know what vegetable I was touching. Our guide taught us many things about how the visually impaired live his life. I felt sad when our guide told us what happened to his eyes. But it was very amazing when he told us how he lives.

This workshop has taught me that besides depending on our own pair of eyes, we should try paying attention to our other senses as well in our daily life.

A FACT : An ancient poet said that the most important sense is hearing.
