During the Easter holiday, I joined a JPC leadership program. Those three days were so meaningful that I learned a lot, especially about myself.
The most difficult thing I encountered was that we had to work as a team and cooked our own meals. We had arguments when we were thinking about the menus. We spent a lot of time to reach a consensus. Yet, it was worth doing so because it could really develop our problem-solving skills. It went smoothly on buying ingredients, but we did not realise the trouble ahead, which was cooking rice and making real dishes. It was the first time we cooked rice without a rice cooker. Our first attempt to make a meal was quite a failure as the bowl of rice was more like a bowl of congee and the fish was almost uneatable. Luckily, we got better skills as we cooked more.
I was glad to make friends with people from different schools. I learned that different schools have their unique school life and culture. That was unexpectedly amusing, as I had never thought that students could be so different from school to school.
I really enjoyed this program. JPC helps me a lot in enhancing my social skills and survival skills.
