I joined the 2014 – 2015 Tai Po JPC council training camp which was held on 25 and 26 August. This training, more than anything else, is a challenge for myself and let me know the power of cooperation with partners.
Trekking into mountain creeks was no easy task. We went hand in hand to wade across the brooks. It would be impossible to achieve the goal individually. With trusts between teammates, we managed to maintain balance in the process and eventually finish the task.
Another unforgettable experience was that we were asked to jump into the lake. At first we were scared, terrified and doubtful. Then I remembered the saying, ‘Challenge the world is not the hardest thing you do. Challenge yourself is the most impossible thing you try’. We as teammates encouraged each other to give it a go. We stood on the bamboo raft holding hands together to maintain our balance and, when ready, we all jumped into the lake. We were excited, cheerful and proud for what we had done.
As a leader, we may face lots of difficulties. We should trust ourselves and believe that we could overcome the obstacles. More importantly, we should remember that there are always teammates who could support us.
