On the World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, Prof Felice Lieh-Mak, a renowned psychiatrist, gave a talk to over 270 Force members at the Police Headquarters Auditorium on how to build resilience.
Prof Mak pointed out that a healthy family with love and care helped provide children with the necessary confidence in facing challenges in future. Strong resilience was also related to a person's positive attitude, good social network and the ability to solve problems.
Describing challenges as "an inevitable part of our lives", Prof Mak encouraged Force members to adopt a rational and optimistic problem-solving attitude to cope with difficulties. It was only when Force members committed themselves to their duties that they would be able to march forward in face of the difficulties, she said.
