As international co-operation is an essential element in modern policing, Liaison Bureau (LB) organised a knowledge sharing session on co-operation and communication with Mainland and overseas law enforcement agencies for frontline officers on September 25 at the Auditorium of Police Headquarters.
The sharing session focused on many topics, including "Co-operation with Mainland and Overseas Law Enforcement Agencies", "Reception Protocols", "Mutual Legal Assistance and Surrender of Fugitives", "INTERPOL Services and Tools" and "Electronic Liaison Information Timely Enquiry System (ELITES)", attracting over 160 officers from Crime Wing bureaux, Regions, Districts, and other Major Formations.
Making an opening address, LB Senior Superintendent Crusade Yau hoped the participants would gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of LB and its services to support frontline officers.
A guest speaker, Ms Elizabeth Liu, Senior Government Counsel from the Mutual Legal Assistance Unit of Department of Justice, shared with the audience her professional knowledge and experience of "Mutual Legal Assistance and Surrender of Fugitives".
"The sharing session provides a lot of information and enables me to understand our co-operation with the police agencies outside Hong Kong in a practical perspective," commented a participant from a District Investigation Team after the sharing session.
The sharing session met the expectations of the participants and enabled them to appreciate how they can better interact with Mainland and overseas law enforcement agencies.
