Thirty Junior Police Call (JPC) members from Tai Po visited Singapore from July 17 to 21 under a Culture Exchange Programme to study the local culture and historical developments, led by the Chairman of Tai Po JPC Honorary President Council, Dr Tang Lung, five Presidents and staff of Tai Po Police Community Relations Office.

During visits to local cultural spots and famous landmarks, the JPC members studied the ways to revitalise and conserve local buildings. The most valuable programme was visit to the Singapore Police Heritage and other government bodies to know more about the developments of the Singapore Police Force.

The JPC members also visited a secondary school and discussed with the students the education systems in Singapore and Hong Kong. Finally, the JPC members met the most famous youth uniform group in Singapore, the National Police Cadet Corps, which was set up in 1959 to train up teenagers to assist the police in preventing crime. The Cadet Corps treated the JPC members to a foot drill parade and taught them camp pitching and knot tying.

The Exchange Programme allowed the JPC members to gain a better understanding of the cultures and policing work in other places in the interest of their personal developments.
