Traffic Kowloon East (T KE) works closely with trade unions and associations of professional drivers to promote road safety.  Besides road safety seminars, joint promotion campaign is held with individual associations, the most recent one being an occupational-cum-road safety campaign held at the Tseung Kwan O (TKO) Landfill on September 10 with the Hong Kong Dumper Truck Drivers Association, Occupational Safety and Health Council and Civil Engineering and Development Department.

 

The landfill accommodates waste from all urban areas and wet mud from the whole territory.  Whilst waste from Hong Kong Island is transported by sea, those from Kowloon and southern New Territories are transported by trucks, making the TKO Landfill the busiest industrial unloading zone in Hong Kong. 

 

Besides the occupational safety of truck drivers at the landfill, road safety along the roads leading to and at the landfill is equally important.  Therefore, T KE officers distributed messages and leaflets to the truck drivers with representatives from the trade union and the Landfill Authority.
