Handling students-at-risk is a job of discipline masters, student counsellors or school social workers. To protect those students from being exploited by triads, schoolteachers need to have a better understanding of the triad cultures. With this in mind, the Police Community Relations Office and the Anti-triad Section of Eastern District (EDIST) have organised a project called "Project Sea Star".
When the project was held in North Point Police Station on November 8, officers updated schoolteachers on triad information while the latter shared their own working experiences with the police.
Force Triad Expert Chan Man-shu also introduced triad history, structures, terminologies and jargons, as well as triad-related laws and police procedures of investigating youth crimes. Following a question-and-answer session on anti-triad strategies, the officers, teachers and social workers discussed how to handle youths at risk.
