Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) has set up "Police Clinic" under "Project Compax" to achieve community engagement and disseminate crime prevention messages. KWTDIST took another initiative when it rolled out a four-phased Crime Prevention Campaign on October 23.
In Phase One, KWTDIST and the Regional Crime Prevention Office called on money-changers to remind them to pay more attention to suspicious money transactions and to offer means to contact the police direct.
Phase Two was a Crime Prevention Seminar organised by the Police Community Relations Office for 50 elders, who were encouraged to pass on crime prevention messages to their peers.
Phase Three saw KWTDIST inviting stakeholders in the district to attend the setting up of a "Super Police Clinic" at Tai Wo Hau Estate alongside Deputy District Commander Graham Michelmore and Acting Kwai Chung Division Commander Fong Cheuk-tat. District Councillors, Housing Department representatives, security personnel of the estate supported the "Super Police Clinic" and over 100 volunteers, including Junior Police Call members, Silver Harriers and Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions volunteers, distributed publicity leaflets and souvenirs on prevention of burglary and telephone and street scams to the public.
In the last phase, the "Police Clinic" moved to Kwai Shing East and West Estates to distribute anti-burglary flyers and disseminate other crime prevention messages.
