Marine South Division (MSDIV) hosted a Train-the-Trainer Workshop on maritime safety at Marine Port Headquarters on April 9 in a bid to engage the maritime community and promote sea safety. A total of 97 professional coaches and water sport athletes from 17 organisations attended the workshop.

At the workshop, Marine Port District Commander Lee Kiu-ki briefed the participants on Marine Region's vision and determination to improve maritime safety, while the Chairman of the Hong Kong Life Saving Society, Mr Ho Fuk-keung, shared his knowledge of maritime safety and survival techniques at sea. MSDIV officers also discussed maritime legislation and introduced police equipment for sea rescue operations.

For the participants, the workshop acquainted them with Marine Region's work in maritime safety and strengthened the relationship between Marine Police and the maritime community in the interest of public awareness of maritime safety.

In view of the busy maritime traffic and activities in the southern waters, MSDIV launched a sea safety campaign known as "Southern Cross" in February, under which a team of police volunteers promotes sea safety in partnership with the community.
