PICS II
The Personnel Information Communal System II (PICS II), jointly designed and developed by Personnel Wing and Information Systems Wing (ISW) and launched on July 15 last year, has won the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2014: "Best Business Solution (Application) Certificate of Merit".
The system provides end-to-end services, ranging from strategic planning to the HR needs of police officers and civilian staff. It replaces the previous PICS system, integrates other satellite systems, and introduces a series of strategic functions, including competency-based succession and manpower planning, effective matching of skills with different policing requirements, e-HR self-services and enhanced security features.
The PICS II adopts a user-centric approach with analytical and reporting tools, searching capabilities and decision-support functions for the Force to meet both operational and policing needs.
The project team is delighted to have won the Hong Kong ICT Award. The PICS II system owes its success not only to the professionalism and dedication of the project team of Personnel Wing's Manpower Planning Division and ISW, but also to its partnership, co-operation and team spirit.
Mini-Range Training System
Meanwhile, the Mini-Range Training System jointly designed by Weapons Training Division and ISW, has also won the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2014: "Best Innovation (Entrepreneurial Innovation) Certificate of Merit". The system consists of Infra-Red Sensors (Live round/Laser Insert Simulator), Cameras, Servers and Authoring System.
Learning Technology Division is responsible for producing training videos and for the authoring process that embeds the response sectors on the images of the targets. Police Officers can benefit from the training, enhancing their ability to take decisive and appropriate actions.
Winning the Hong Kong ICT Award is the outcome of the dedication and co-operation of the departments developing the training system.
