The annual Wallis Trophy competition organised by the Hong Kong Police Lawn Bowls Club concluded successfully on March 26 following four weeks of intense round-robin competition among eight Major Formation teams.
Four teams entered the final held at the Police Officers' Club in Causeway Bay. Marine Region took on the Police Headquarters (PHQ) Team B for the championship whilst Traffic Kowloon East Team A competed with Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) for the third place. Eventually, PHQ Team B won the title, followed by Marine Region and CRB as first and second runners-up respectively.
Presenting trophies to the winner and runners-up, Marine Region Deputy Regional Commander Patrick Hodson congratulated the teams and praised them for teamwork and sportsmanship. "Lawn bowls is a healthy and skilful sport, requiring maximum concentration and co-operation by team members," he said.
"The Wallis Trophy is a Force-wide annual sport event to promote lawn bowling to Force members. This year we have attracted about 10 new players. The Police Lawn Bowls Club would offer two training courses this year and it is expected that more Force members would take up this healthy and interesting sport," said Inspector Ma Hung-cheung, organiser of this year's Wallis Trophy competition.
