A five-member team from the Police Adventure Club took part in the Mainland Public Security Authority Taishan Trekking Competition in Taian City, Shandong Province, on May 29. The team comprised Sergeant Ching Ying-wai and Police Constables Ng Cheuk-yin, Chan Yu-fai, Chow Pui-yan and Yip Kwan-yau, led by Chief Inspector Lok Wai-lurk and Inspector Chua Po-hoi.
The competition attracted a total of 31 teams comprising 153 police runners from national, provincial and municipality Public Security Bureaux on the Mainland. The trail route was 9.1 km long with over 5 700 staircases, starting from a school and finishing at Taishan's Nan Tian Men situated at 1 460 meters above sea level.
The Sports Council of the Ministry of Public Security organised the competition with a view to boosting the physical fitness and resilience of Mainland police officers. After tough competition, the runner from Liaoning first completed the race in one hour and seven minutes, winning the Male's Category championship, while PC Chow took the Female's Category title with one hour and 28 minutes.
Although the Force team members did not secure the group awards in this highly competitive event, they showed good team spirit and established good rapport with their Mainland counterparts.
