The Force hosted the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Tripartite Heads of CID Meeting on June 10 and 11. It was the 20th pivotal meeting of the tripartite CID heads since Guangdong Province hosted the first meeting in 2000.
The Deputy Director of Guangdong Public Security Department, Mr Zheng Dong, headed the Guangdong delegation, whilst the Commissioner of the Unitary Police Service, Mr Jose Proenca Branco, led the Macao delegation.
The delegates discussed how to cope with the challenges of tripartite law enforcement co-operation, expressed views on 30 topics covering five major areas, namely cross-boundary crime, joint operation, intelligence exchange, criminal investigation training and study visits.
For combating cross-boundary crimes, the delegates also discussed mapping out various strategies and strengthening intelligence and training exchanges for charting the direction for co-operation in the year ahead.
Leading the Force delegation, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lo Wai-chung hoped the three parties would strengthen co-operation, draw on one another's strengths for overcoming self-deficiencies, and study the differences in the legal systems of the three places to prevent the criminals from taking advantage of law loopholes.
