Following the launch of the Village GuardWATCH scheme at the Lantau South Rural Committee, Lantau District (LTDIST) further promoted the scheme to the villagers in Mui Wo. On January 8, the Police Community Relations Office, together with the Mui Wo Rural Committee, rolled out a publicity drive for the Village GuardWATCH scheme by putting up banners and stickers in villages and distributing crime prevention fliers.
LTDIST and the District Fight Crime Committee launched the Village GuardWATCH scheme on August 12 last year for combating burglary and other crimes. The scheme, run by the police and the community at a working level, aims at enhancing communication and coordination with stakeholders.
Acting LTDIST Commander Ho Yun-sing, pleased with villagers' positive response, said the scheme would be extended to the other rural committees in due course.
