Exchange programme in Singapore
A 32-member delegation from Junior Police Call (JPC) left for Singapore on January 12 to take part in a five-day exchange programme with the Singapore National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), with a view to enriching JPC members' knowledge of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), fostering the communication between the youngsters of Hong Kong and Singapore, and broadening JPC members' overseas horizons.
The NPCC is a uniformed group jointly organised by the SPF and Ministry of Education. During the programme, the JPC delegation not only visited a secondary school and SPF units, but also underwent challenging outdoor training. A JPC member from Kwai Tsing District tasted the success by "making the impossible possible" when she attended a high rope course at the NPCC Camp Resilience on Pulau Ubin.
Throughout the Singapore visit, the delegates successfully projected the spirit of JPC and impressed their hosts as a cohesive team ready to help one another in difficult times.
STDIST
Sha Tin JPC is implementing a two-year "Project Builder" for developing young people's working experience and potentials, as well as their knowledge of the developments in the Mainland.
The project consists of three core businesses: visiting commercial sectors and non-governmental organisations; visiting major cities in the Mainland, and offering volunteer services to the community.
Forty-nine members of the project have visited a large medical centre and a hotel and exchanged views with the management.
In an other effort, Sha Tin JPC held a "Fight Crime Barbeque Christmas Night cum JPC Talent Show 2014" on December 30 with District Commander Sha Tin So Kam-tong and JPC honorary presidents joining about 150 JPC members in the fun-filled event. The JPC members also attended a talk on cyber crimes, given by Inspector Yeung Hiu-tung from Commercial Crime Bureau.
KTDIST
More than 150 Kwun Tong District Junior Police Call (KTJPC) members, including both local and Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) students, gathered on December 6 to celebrate a fruitful 2014.
Last year KTJPC and its Council contributed over 25 000 hours and 1 000 hours to volunteer services, winning the Gold Award (Organisation) and the Gold Award (Group) from Social Welfare Department respectively. In addition, 47 KTJPC members were also awarded different individual volunteer service awards.
In an award presentation ceremony, Acting Kwun Tong District Commander Alice Lee thanked KTJPC members and the Honorary Presidents for their continuous support.
At its annual meeting held on the same day, the KTJPC Honorary Presidents Council reviewed its work in the past year and charted the way forward. Besides activities to help JPC members develop a strong sense of social responsibility, the Council pledged to provide more community services for the elderly and the NEC.
The event concluded with a fun-filled barbeque.
