With the newly joined Indian youngsters and female players, the Kowloon City District (KCDIST) Breakthrough Football Programme has now expanded to 40 players, from a modest beginning of just 16 local and Thai youths. They train at the KGV football pitch two sessions per week. Their effort paid off on December 17, 2014 when they beat the KGV school team 2:1.

Three days later, the KCDIST Breakthrough Football Team hosted a Christmas party at Police Sports and Recreation Club, where the team members and their parents expressed their gratitude to police officers and Police Breakthrough Directors, who were pleased to see the progress the players have made after joining the team.

KCDIST has been running the football programme with Operation Breakthrough and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Kowloon City Children and Youth Integrated Service Centre for the youths recommended by social workers in Kowloon City District since March last year. Adopting Operation Breakthrough's format of "changing through sports", the programme seeks to help the youths improve their physical fitness, discipline and confidence and have more interaction with the police officers working as volunteers.
