Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung has, on behalf of the Force, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) at Police Headquarters. This is the first time the Force has signed a MOU with the KNPA at an organisational level and it is hoped that the agreement can pave the way for better co-operation in criminal investigation, intelligence and police training.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr Tsang said, "Working together, we place ourselves in a much more advantageous position to meet head on the challenges of transnational crime, particularly cyber and technology crime, and international terrorism."
Mr Lee Sang Won, Deputy Commissioner General of the KNPA, who signed the MOU as well, commented, "The KNPA attaches great importance to co-operation with the Hong Kong Police. And I believe it is important for our two agencies to establish stronger co-operation to ensure safety and security in Asia by countering the threats of terrorism and transnational crime."
