Emergency Unit Kowloon West (EU KW) captured the Wimbush Trophy in a competition held at Police Tactical Unit Headquarters on March 21 when officers from all the five land EUs pitted against one another in games testing their physical strength, tactics application and teamwork. EU dog handlers also displayed their skills in a competition.
The Wimbush Trophy competition consisted of four challenges: "Busy But Happy", "Police Dog Obedience Test", "Tactical Relay" and "The SP 'REDMAN' Challenge - King of the Ring". After Superintendent (SP) EU KW Paul Renouf delivered an opening speech and Acting Chief Inspector EU KW Wong Yuet-chi sounded the horn, the competition began in earnest.
Following a nail-biting final, EU KW emerged as winner, and SP Renouf received the trophy from Senior Superintendent (SSP) (Operations) KW Ma Kam-po.
Speaking after the presentation, SSP Ma stressed that the fine tradition of EU was built not only upon officers' physical prowess, but also their judgment and wisdom. He praised the contestants and encouraged EU officers to rise to every challenge in the coming years.
EU New Territories North will host next year's Wimbush Trophy Competition.
