Eastern District (EDIST) kicked off a yearlong "Eastern District Anti-Phone and Online Deception 2015" campaign on March 24.

 

Officiating at the opening ceremony were EDIST Commander Cheng Yiu-mo, Acting Divisional Commander Chai Wan Lam King-kai, Police Community Relations Officer EDIST Tsang Fan-hon, Eastern District Council (EDC) Vice-chairman, Mr Kung Pak-cheung, EDC member Mr Lau Hing-yeung, Eastern District Fight Crime Committee members, Mr Ng Wing-ka and Ms Leung Kit-ping, Housing Department Housing Managers, Ms Law Yuk-wah and Ms Chan Wan-yuk, and Iman M. Tufail of Chai Wan Masjid.

 

The campaign is a year-round programme to spread measures against phone and online scams and raise public awareness of such crimes. EDIST, together with other stakeholders in the community, will mount a series of publicity events to reach out to a wide spectrum of the community through housing estates, schools, youth organisations, elderly homes, and convenience stores.
