Director of Finance, Administration and Planning Ip Man-fai and Financial Controller Tau Chung-hong led a party of 14 representatives from the Uniform and Accoutrements Committee and Stores Management Division to visit the Stanley Prison Workshops on March 6. The objective of the visit was to strengthen bilateral communication and forge close working relationship with the Correctional Services Department (CSD).

 

CSD General Manager (Industries & Vocational Training), Mr Man Ka-kit, CSD Superintendent (Industries Unit 1) Chu Po-hung and CSD Chief Officer (Industries and Vocational Training) 1 Shum Wai-pun briefed the party on the production processes of police uniform.  CSD officers also showed the production workflow of police patrol shoes, waterproof test and shoe sole bond strength test.

 

In the Garment Making Workshop, CSD officers showed the production processes of police shirts and trousers.  At the same time, they also introduced application of new technologies in production processes.  Mr Man said that in a bid to improve work processes, product quality and productivity, CSD would keep on using new technologies in workshops.

 

Later in a meeting, the party and CSD officers exchanged views and ideas on the quality and features of police uniform.  Mr Ip said a set of good uniform and accoutrement is very important for police officers, providing protection and enhancing work efficiency.  He hoped that, through effective communication, co-operation and close working relationship, CSD Industries Unit 1 would not only supply good quality uniform and accoutrements, but also improve the product design and features.
