The third Annual General Meeting and annual dinner of the Police Debate and Speech Club (PDSC) was held on April 21 with about 40 PDSC members and guests from Toastmasters enjoying a warm and joyful evening.

The Chairperson, Chief Superintendent (CSP) Jocelyn Cheung, and Treasurer, Superintendent Lincoln Leung, reported official businesses before the start of the highlight of the evening - an impromptu debate on use of social media.

CSP Cheung said, "In the 2014/15 financial year, we attracted 97 members and organised eight evening two-hour sessions primarily in English, during which members practised not only impromptu and prepared speeches but also impromptu and prepared debates.  We also invited alumni and undergraduates from the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as affirmative or negative side to participate in various debates with our members."

CSP Cheung also said she was pleased to report the set-up of PDSC Toastmasters under the Club and some members had active exchanges of experiences with the Toastmasters community in Hong Kong.  Of particular note is the fact that Chief Inspector Wilson Ng has won the Division Putonghua Prepared Speech Contest and will represent Hong Kong in the Southern China District level contest this month.

After official businesses, PDSC members participated in an impromptu debate.  Amongst the eight participants, PC Chan Son-un won the best debater award.

A new Executive Committee for 2015-2017 has been formed and membership registration is open.  Interested Force members are advised to watch out for NoticeBoard messages.
