Yuen Long District (YLDIST) and the Akunne African Association have joined hands in offering a Cantonese course to African residents so that they would improve their Cantonese proficiency, relations with their neighbours and communication with the police.
The one-month course was conducted in Pat Heung Sheung Tsuen Village Office where YLDIST volunteers taught the participants in spare time. The course focused on tackling problems of Cantonese and learning words of daily use through practices, group discussion and role-playing games. The participants had a high opinion of the classes and hoped the police would organise more similar courses.
