Traffic New Territories North (T NTN) conducted an inter-departmental exercise, "Quickskill 2015" on Kong Sham Western Highway on October 29 to test multi-departmental response to a major traffic incident involving chemical spillage and many casualties.

The exercise simulated a double-deck bus, a private car and a chemical-loaded goods vehicle being involved in an accident, resulting in chemicals spilling into the bus and onto the road and contaminating many people.

T NTN, Emergency Unit NTN, Tin Shui Wai Division, Fire Services Department and Hong Kong St. John Ambulance rushed to the scene to rescue and decontaminate the casualties. Hospital Authority, Environmental Department, Transport Department, Highways Department, Kowloon Motor Bus and other private companies all played their roles in restoring the road to a clean and safe condition before it was re-opened to traffic.

At the conclusion of the exercise, Acting NTN Regional Commander Tsang Cheung-tat presented certificates to the exercise players.

Joint CT Exercise

On the same day, Marine West Division (MWDIV) hosted a joint counter terrorism (CT) exercise with Castle Peak Division (CPKDIV), simulating threat of disturbance to the security of the Sha Chau Radar Station. Upon receiving information, Marine Police and CPKDIV officers set up a sea cordon and carried out a sweep operation. The exercise concluded successfully, enhancing the communication between MWDIV and CPKDIV for making a quick response to an emergency situation.
