Assistant Secretary General of International Police Association (IPA) (Hong Kong Section), Senior Inspector (SIP) Tam Man-kei, has attended the 3rd IPA World Seminar for Young Police Officers in the Police Training Centre in Warsaw, Poland.
The annual seminar focused on a series of international crimes presented and shared by various law enforcement agencies in Poland. Many topics are seldom covered in Hong Kong, for example deployment of peacekeeping forces to battlefields, refugees and cross-border defence. The host also arranged the participants to attend a training course for Polish Police.
In a thematic conference held in the Polish Parliament in the same period, SIP Tam was also invited to speak on the position of the women police officers in Hong Kong before the Polish Prime Minister. According SIP Tam, her Poland trip has realised the motto of the IPA: Service Through Friendship.
The members of IPA come from 65 countries and regions. In order to facilitate exchanges of policing experience, the IPA organises various programmes and conferences regularly. The IPA (Hong Kong Section) was founded in 1960 and now has some 800 members. Following the motto of the IPA, the Hong Kong Section supports the exchange and sharing of police experience. Apart from internal members exchange activities, it often assigns members to take part in conferences and events organised by other sections all around the world.
