Kowloon West (KW) Region has established the "KW Region Hawkers' Charter Network" for seven streets with hawker stalls. At the Charter Signing Ceremony on October 23, the Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC), Mr Chan Siu-tong, and Chairman of Sham Shui Po DFCC, Mr Li Hon-hung, countersigned the Charter with hawkers' association representatives and the District Commanders of Sham Shui Po, Yau Tsim and Mong Kok.
Speaking at the ceremony, KW Regional Commander Chung Siu-yeung thanked the seven hawkers' associations for supporting the scheme. He said he was confident that that more hawkers or even those from other community sectors would join the scheme.
This scheme aims at facilitating the communication, partnership and exchanges of crime information for crime prevention between hawkers and the police.
Belonging to hawkers' associations, the hawkers in Fuk Wa Street, Fuk Wing Street, Apliu Street, Kweilin Street, Fa Yuen Street, Temple Street and Bowring Street have joined the Charter.
