Yuen Long District (YLDIST) and the Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) hosted a "Suicide Prevention Training Workshop" on January 9 to brief frontline officers and police volunteers, who joined the workshop after office hours, on the trend of suicide in Hong Kong, the psychological states of the people attempting suicide and the ways to help such people and their relatives.

The workshop boosted the officers ability to identify potential suicidal people and offered training in assessing suicidal risk and providing services for such people. The workshop also introduced methods to prevent suicide with resilience and physical and mental health.

After the workshop, eight officers joined the SPS as volunteer workers to help prevent suicide and serve suicidal people.
