The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, inspected the passing-out parade for 27 probationary inspectors and 244 recruit constables on Police College's Aberdeen Campus on February 6.
Speaking at the parade, Mr Leung said the overall crime rate in Hong Kong had dwindled and the crime figures in 2015 had hit a new low in 36 years. The outstanding performances of the Police Force in crime prevention and crime fighting had made Hong Kong one of the safest cities in the world.
He praised officers for their dedication and perseverance in face of "myriads of challenges". He believed that all the graduates, like their fellow Force members, would be devoted to enforcing the law impartially.
The Chief Executive also noted that Police College had organised a wide range of activities to celebrate its 10th anniversary, including an Open Day on January 10, which had received favourable feedback from members of the public and given them a better understanding of police work.
In conclusion, Mr Leung encouraged the graduates to carry on their hard work and the fine tradition of the Force in serving the community and maintaining law and order.
