The Physical Fitness and Health Management (PHM) Carnival 2016 took place in Police Sports and Recreation Club on March 6, drawing 6 330 regular and auxiliary officers, civilian staff and their families.

Organised by Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch in conjunction with Police Sports and Arts Clubs, the carnival aims at encouraging Force members and their families to pursue regular exercises, pay more attention to their physical and psychological health and remain financially prudent.

A variety of programmes were available to cater for the participants' different tastes, including performances and fun-filled game booths set up by 50 Police Sports and Arts Clubs. The participants also vied for medals in sports competitions, Indoor Rowing Competition and Biathlon Competition. The cheering of supporters of the competing teams brought the atmosphere to a climax.

In health education, there was a talk known as "All start from the Heart" delivered by a Cardiologist of the Community Health Education Group of the Auxiliary Medical Service Volunteer Group and a game booth on health education set up by the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health.

The Southern Medical University Hong Kong Alumni Association supported the carnival by providing free health consultations for the participants. Besides the diverse activities in physical health, the carnival also offered game booths on positive mental health and an exhibition of the winning entries to a Prudent Financial Management - Folk Poetry Competition.

Commissioner Lo Wai-chung, Senior Directorate Group members and many Formation Commanders were on hand to share the fun with the participants and presented the prizes for Indoor Rowing Competition and the Fitness Training Room Management Excellence Award.
