Railway District (RAILDIST) Commander Lau Cheng-fung led 26 officers from RAILDIST and 10 participants of the Short-Term Job Attachment of RAILDIST to attend an exchange tour in Shenzhen on September 22. They met officers of the Public Traffic Branch of Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau (PSB) and MTR Corporation Shenzhen (MTRSZ).

The exchange tour covered the policing of metro lines in Shenzhen Municipality, the partnership between Metro Police and MTRSZ, the relevant security risks and counter-terrorism contingency measures. The tour began with a visit to the Control Centre of MTR (Shenzhen) Headquarters and an experience-sharing seminar on metro security. The police and metro officers of Hong Kong and Shenzhen spoke on their respective work, policing strategies, future development and trends.

Then the Force delegation toured the Shenzhen North Station and Futian Checkpoint Station to understand their daily operations, as well as the conventional and counter-terrorism equipment of the police offices within the stations. The exchange tour had not only strengthened RAILDIST's understanding of MTRSZ's operations, but also established a rapport between Hong Kong and Mainland police authorities.
