Director of Crime and Security Au Chi-kwong led a five-member delegation, including Hong Kong Island Regional Commander Kwok Yam-shu and Senior Superintendent of Liaison Bureau Chan Man-tak, to attend the 85th INTERPOL General Assembly session in Bali, Indonesia, between November 7 and 10.
With a theme of "Setting a Global Roadmap for International Policing" for the plenary session this year, the members endorsed a series of measures to strengthen the organisational capability of INTERPOL, improve its service efficiency and build enduring partnerships among members, in particular on the global programmes in combating terrorism, organised and emerging crimes as well as cyber crimes.
This year, the plenary session bore particular significance for the INTERPOL China delegation as Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Public Security Mr Meng Hongwei was elected by the General Assembly as the new President of INTERPOL.
Meanwhile, Mr Au met with senior management of the Australian Federal Police, New Zealand Police, German Federal Criminal Police, National Police of the Netherlands and various senior officials of foreign police organisations to reaffirm their partnerships.
