Chief Superintendent of the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) Wong Ying-wai led a six-member delegation to attend the 13th Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Crime Investigation Practice Seminar, which was hosted by the Economic Crime Investigation Department (ECID) of Shanghai Public Security Bureau from June 12 to 14 in Shanghai.
The two sides discussed strategies to strengthen cross-boundary co-operation and the latest investigation techniques for combating prevalent crimes, and shared views on the modus operandi of cross-boundary securities crime as well as the corresponding measures.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong (HK) delegates visited a Shanghai-based company providing nationwide online payment and clearance service and discussed with their management staff the risk management related to financial technology development and measures to prevent economic crime. As the CCB was preparing for the establishment of an Anti-deception Coordination Centre, the delegation also called on the Anti-telemarketing and Anti-Internet Scam Centre in Shanghai to better understand the collaboration among the public security bureau, banks, telecommunications and Internet service providers.
The seminar not only enabled the delegates to get a better picture of the economic crime situation of Shanghai and the related risk management, but also fostered co-operation with the ECID.
