The Police College made arrangement for Chief Inspector Lee King-hei and Senior Inspectors Leung Yue-tung and Ho Tsz-in to attend the "Leadership in Action" course under the Management Development Programme of the Queensland Police Service Academy in Brisbane, Australia, from May 22 to June 9.

The training covered a two-week classroom phase and a one-week attachment phase. The speakers, including the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners from Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) as well as external experts, talked about how they led their respective organisation through periods of change, diversity and challenges on the basis of people-oriented strategic leadership.

Ms Lee provided mentorship and shared her experience as a visiting fellow with the participants from QPS, QFES, Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Hong Kong Police Force. On the other hand, the two Force trainees, Mr Leung and Ms Ho, were enlightened by the concepts of contemporary leadership such as evidence based policing. During the attachment programme, officers learned about the policing initiatives that QPS had developed for an inclusive and diverse community. This course had broadened the officers' management and leadership capability, and offered an opportunity for the Force delegates to establish working partnership with the overseas counterparts.
