The Juvenile Protection Section of Hong Kong Island (HKI) Region arranged a group of juveniles under their guidance or that of The Salvation Army Wan Tsui Home for Boys to take part in the Rehabilitation Pioneer Project of the Correctional Services Department (CSD) on August 11.

The CSD briefed the participants on the objectives of  the project, their correctional services and the criminal law system dealing with young offenders. They were guided to visit the Cape Collinson Correctional Institution, which is set up in Chai Wan for male teenagers in custody aged from 14 to under 21 who are ordered by court to undergo the training centre programme. The juvenile visitiors looked at the facilities and learned about the lives of the young offenders there. In a talk with an inmate, they came to realise the serious consequences of committing crime.

The visit helped the participants to develop positive values towards life and become responsible and law-abiding citizens.
