Western District (WDIST) held a road safety carnival in collaboration with the Southern District Road Safety Campaign Committee at the Police College on April 14.

The event featured performances and game booths with a view to promoting road safety and building a safe living environment. More than 1 000 people participated in the event.

Amongst the guests of honour were WDIST Commander Wong Siu-hing; District Officer (Southern) Mrs Dorothy Ma; Chairman of the Southern District Council Dr Chu Ching-hong; District Commander (Western) of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong Island and Islands) Mr Fung Cheuk-hang; Superintendent (Investigation and Support) of Traffic Hong Kong Island Chan Hoi-lun; Southern District Road Safety Ambassador Mr Cheung Siu-lun and Chairman of the event Mr Chan Man-chun.

Throughout the years, WDIST has been working with the campaign committee to spread road safety messages through talks for the elderly, visits to Road Safety Town, and bus parades. This helps raise public awareness of road safety, and remind pedestrians and the elderly of the attentive use of roads with the aim of achieving the vision of "Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal".
