Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST) hosted a craft workshop for ethnic minorities at the Islamic Association Centre in Tiu Keng Leng on May 30 to mark the Dragon Boat Festival.

Over 30 non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) children from the Tseung Kwan O Islamic Association took part in the workshop to learn more about the traditional Chinese festival. The workshop, built on the theme of "We are all in the same boat", fostered understanding between the NEC and the Police. The mediums of instruction were Cantonese and simple English. This provided an opportunity for the children to practise Cantonese and enrich their knowledge of Chinese culture.

Police Community Relations Officer of TKODIST Cheuk Yuet-ching said her team hoped the event would bring police officers and the NEC children together as one group, despite their cultural differences. She was glad to see all the participating kids enjoy the craft work and show much interest in Chinese culture.
