The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (KE) held crime prevention seminars for over 500 Mainland students of the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education as well as an education centre before the start of the new academic year in early September.

Officers not only briefed the students about the prevalent local crimes such as telephone fraud, naked chat blackmail and WhatsApp hacking, but also introduced the "Anti-Scam Helpline 18222" of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre. Anti-crime video clips were played.

Furthermore, the attendees were invited to join a role play to increase their understanding of the modus operandi of telephone deception. They were also urged to keep an eye on their personal belongings. At the end of the seminars, leaflets and souvenirs were distributed to remind the attendees to be on guard against crime.
