The Police Community Relations Office of Eastern District (EDIST) and Hong Kong Island Regional Crime Prevention Office jointly held an anti-deception seminar for undergraduates of the Hong Kong Shue Yan University on August 27.

To raise the students' anti-deception awareness and reduce their risk of falling prey to crime, Assistant Police Community Relations Officer (Youth Engagement) of EDIST Cheung Ka-man explained to over 120 students the modus operandi of deception, including telephone deception, email scam, business scam and social media scam.

Officers also introduced the "Anti-Scam Helpline 18222" to the students and shared with them some deception cases in which the remittances were successfully intercepted with the assistance of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre.
