Kowloon West Youth-Care Committee organised a visit to a biomimicry farm at Kam Tsin Tsuen in Sheung Shui for over 20 youngsters and their parents on October 26.
Biomimicry is an agricultural method using nature as a model through the application of probiotic and nanotechnology, adopting an underground irrigation system to enhance soil strength. This farming practice not only greatly reduces manpower and increases productivity, but also produces vegetables with no pesticides, chemical fertilisers and heavy metals.
The participants tasted fresh vegetables during the visit. A briefing session was also arranged to raise their awareness of food safety.
