Director of Crime and Security Yip Wan-lung led an HKSAR delegation comprising Narcotics Bureau officers and seven graduates of the Leadership Institute on Narcotics (L.I.O.N.) to attend an anniversary event in Humen, Dongguan on June 3 to mark the 185th anniversary of the opium destruction at Humen.


During the event, youths from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao seized the opportunity to exchange anti-drug insights. Representatives of L.I.O.N. graduates delivered a presentation to share anti-drug experience and did a media interview. The graduates visited the opium war museum to understand the connotation of opium destruction and its inspiration to modern society.


L.I.O.N. will continue its commitment to the event’s theme “Passing on the Spirit of Humen’s Opium Destruction, Highlighting Our Key Roles in the Anti-Drug Era” for mentees to promote a drug-free culture at all community levels and occasions.
