The Recruitment Division (RECDIV) held the 8th Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day (READ) under the theme “Ordinary is Extraordinary” on June 16. The event attracted around 2 391 visits and 863 on-site applications. READ consisted of three thematic sessions, namely (1) Selection Workshops for Probationary Inspector / Police Constable, (2) Interactive Police Unit Display / Recruitment Talk / Sharing of Training Experience and (3) Physical Fitness Test Workshops. Participants could submit application and undergo initial screening on the spot.


READ organised in-depth tour of the trainees’ residential halls at Police College for visitors to interact with serving instructors and trainees. The READ this time marked the inaugural Live Broadcasting Recruitment Talk for prospective candidates who were unable to attend the session, as well as Hong Kong students studying in the Mainland, to join the activities online to gain a better knowledge of the recruitment selection process and interview skills.


Recruitment Spokespersons


Over 100 applicants were attracted to the recruitment exercise for the new Recruitment Spokespersons. Upon selection, three officers who have been appointed Recruitment Spokespersons made their debut on READ. They will take part in various recruitment activities and attract applicants of different background to join the Force through experience sharing.

Having joined the Force for six years, he is now stationed at the Counter Terrorism Response Unit. He says that police work requires teamwork. Together with his colleagues, he will overcome the challenges in protecting the citizens and safeguarding Hong Kong.


“Embracing challenges, transcending myself and staying at the forefront of counter terrorism, I hope that my journey can inspire those who aspire to join the Force. ”


Carmen


Now attached to Patrol Sub-unit of Shatin Division, she finds police work challenging and conducive to serving the public. She wishes to show that woman can overcome gender-based barriers and pursue careers in community protection.


“RECDIV facilitates aspired citizens to pursue their dreams. I hope that my experience can inspire those who have the same aspiration as mine to join the Force.”


Yin


Now attached to Patrol Sub-unit of Hung Hom Division, he has set his sights on a lifelong career in the Force since his childhood. Inspired by the publicity of the Recruitment Spokespersons, he joined the Force through Project ACHIEVE.


“Taking the pride in joining the Force through Project ACHIEVE, I hope to share good police stories as a Recruitment Spokesperson to attract talents to join the Force.”
