The 2nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Police Games was held between October 22 and 25. The Games facilitated the police and security forces from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to foster exchange and cooperation through sports activities. The Hong Kong Police Force (the Force) gathered over 1 000 officers and volunteers to participate while the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (GDPSD) and Public Security Forces Affairs Bureau of Macao sent delegations of approximately 140 and 130 members respectively to join the Games held in Hong Kong.
Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Executive Deputy Director-General of GDPSD Mr Yang Rihua, Secretary for Security of Macao Mr Wong Sio-chak, and Deputy Director-General of the Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR Ms Meng Xiaoyuan took part in the opening ceremony, officials friendly matches and exchange dinner.
The Games this year featured six competitions, three officials friendly matches and a performance of Police Band. The Force won all the three officials friendly matches, the Pistol Shooting PPC600, Indoor Dual Challenge and Long-distance Relay Race and secured the first runners-up in other categories. The Force was awarded the overall champion of the Games.
The police forces of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao held 18 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Police and Security Forces Sports Exchange in the past. To deepen tripartite exchange, the event was elevated to the GBA Police Games in 2023, which would be hosted by the three places in turn annually.
