The Executive Director of Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) Mr Albert Chow led an 18-member delegation to visit the School of Foundation Training under the Police College (the College) on January 22, 2025. The delegates comprised overseas and local council members of HKCAAVQ and representatives from the Education Bureau. The delegation exchanged views with the College management on quality assurance in teaching and learning and shared insights on the College’s direction of development. In the meantime, the delegation toured the mock court, watched a demonstration of practical assessment under Recruit Police Constables foundation training and experienced the application of learning technologies in training with VR. The delegates also attended the passing-out parade rehearsal and community engagement day. They highly commended the College’s dedication to continuously improving the learning programmes.
The College was the first government department to be awarded with the Programme Area Accreditation (PAA) status by HKCAAVQ in 2020. Since then, the College has been entrusted to operate programmes within the “Law Enforcement and Security” area from the Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 1-5. In 2024, the College successfully underwent its Periodic Institutional Review and extended the validity of its PAA status for five years. The College currently operates 18 QF-recognised programmes covering detective training, fingerprint detection technology, money-laundering, marine policing and computer forensics investigation. Members of the Force can pursue continuous learning in local universities or academic institutions through the Credit Accumulation and Transfer arrangements, hence enhancing the professional standard of the Force.
