Chief Inspector of Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) Sun Yi-ki led a 17-member delegation to visit three tech giants in Shenzhen and Dongguan, namely Huawei, Meituan and Tencent, between December 16 and 18, 2024. The delegation comprised frontline Crime officers from CSTCB, the e-Crime Processing and Analysis Hub and Project COHERE.
The delegation visited the Huawei headquarters in Dongguan and Shenzhen, engaging in in-depth discussions on the application of AI in policing. The delegates also visited Meituan headquarters in Shenzhen to have in-depth understanding of the latest development of drones and unmanned vehicles in their daily operations. Lastly, the delegation visited the Tencent head office, where the applications of big data analytics and VR technology in crime investigation and court trial were discussed. The delegates found the visits very fruitful.
The first phase of the 3-year Project COHERE has been successfully completed. Support has been provided to frontline Formations in establishing their technology and financial crime investigation teams. 37 members from the investigation teams had been arranged to participate in exchange programmes lasting 9 to 12 months with officers from CSTCB, Commercial Crime Bureau and Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau.
