To further enhance the competency of Junior Police Officers (JPO) for promotion to inspectorate, Personnel Wing has comprehensively rejuvenated the Junior Police Officer Development Programme (JDP), the patronage of which has been extended from potential officers to all JPOs who aspire to advance to inspectorate. Personalised mentor-mentee pairing and cross-functional developmental activities are especially arranged for providing tailored-made career planning guidance to the mentees. In addition, the Elite Mentee and Outstanding Mentor/Mentee awards are established. Around 200 mentees and over 100 mentors have hitherto signed up for JDP.
Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Man-tak officiated at the kick-off ceremony of the revamped JDP held at the Police Headquarters on January 17. Over 250 mentors, mentees and guests from the collaborating Formations attended the event. Senior Clinical Psychologist Mak Wing-fun hosted the Growth Mindset Workshop on the day to enhance the officers’ mental quality and inspire mentees to break through their own limits. Four officers who had been promoted through JPD were also invited to share their striving stories.
