Since the introduction of the Badge to Bachelor Scheme to Force members in July 2024 under the collaboration memorandum signed between the Police College and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), two police officers have been successfully admitted to CUHK’s bachelor degree programmes under the scheme for the 2024/25 academic year. The two police officers are Dora Lai, currently posted under Crime Wing, and Ko Ka-yan, currently posted in Police Tactical Unit of Kowloon West. They have already commenced their studies in Gerontology and Sociology respectively since September 2024.

They are honoured to be undergraduates studying their preferred programmes at CUHK. Dora recommends that applicants interested in the scheme should make good use of the personal statement to articulate the reasons for opting for the preferred programme when preparing for the application documents. During the interview, professors would be focusing on understanding the applicants’ original intention of enrolling in the programme. Ka-yan states that colleagues interested in applying should enhance their English proficiency and get used to the learning environment since most of the subject contents are delivered in English.

Under the scheme, CUHK provides serving regular Force officers who possess an Associate Degree or a Higher Diploma with the opportunity to pursue Bachelor’s degree programmes. CUHK also offers exemption on credit and tuition fee of extended study years to Force members, who may choose from the 38 Bachelor’s degree programmes offered to them. Officers who are interested in the Scheme can approach Learning Services Division at 3661-5155 for information.
