LAST year the Commissioner held a garden party at his residence for all officers who had been awarded the Commissioner's Commendation and other high level commendations in 1997.

Continuing the tradition, this year Mr Hui extended an invitation to all officers who received commendations or other high level awards to attend his garden party on 1 December.

Also attending were the Senior Directorate,the Major Formation Commanders and the Executive Committee officer bearers of the various disciplined and civilian staff associations within the Force.


German police delegation visits HKP
A DELEGATION of 26 German officers and their spouses were given a tour and briefing of several HKP formations during their recent visit to Hong Kong.

Led by Chief Inspector Hermann-Josef Barz of the Ministry of the Inteiror of the federal state Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany, members of his entourage were taken for a ride on the Anti-smuggling Task Force/Small Boat Division's fast pursuit craft;viewed some of the Border Enforcement Unit Anti-Illege Immigration capabilities and methods of operation at the Border District;and attended Police Night '98 at the Police Training School.

Their tour also included a visit to the offices of PPRB and a meeting with members of the Airport Security Unit.

Mr Barz praised the Force as one of the best in the world-and thanked his hosts for their wonderful hospitality.

$20,000 donated in thanks for exceptional police service

On September 4,victims of a theft in Tin Shui Wai solved by police in that division expresed their gratitude by presenting flags of appreciation to officers of TSW DIV.They also donated $20,000 to the Police Children's Education Trust. DC YL District Trevor Oakes received the donation on behalf of the Force.


Grand Autumn Promotional Sale
ACP P Yam Tat-wing officiated at the recent Grand Autumn Promotional Sale ribbon cutting ceremony at the PSRC for the new contracted supplier of household electrical appliances for staff of the Force-the Hong Kong Consumer Product Supply Services Association Ltd.

There were 10 major manufacturers (including Whirlpool,Shart,Hitachi,Instant-Dict) promoting their products with more than 2,000 Force Members attending the weekend promotional sale.
